Sounds like he needs an operator for the D4. Good dozer, how many hours are on it and what are you going to be paying? seems like these machines have a useful engine life of less than 7000 hours usually but the rest of the machine will hold up to twice that much. Had the other trees down in less time than the guy with the D3 took down the one tree Later used a backhoe to take the other three tress down. I used the loader on the 4020 to "lift & roll" the tree. After the trees was down he kept trying to push it by the root ball to the pile. In fairness to the D3, it had street pads and the operator didn't know what he was doing. A couple days later I took my 4020 & 148 loader and oved the downed tree about 250' to a brush pile where I had wanted the guy with the Cat to pile them. After a couple hrs he got the first one down but couldn't do anything with it and gave up on the other trees. Several years ago I hired a guy with a D3 w/a loader to take out 4 soft maple trees that were about 20" dia & 30-35' tall. I know where ones setting in a shed that hasn't been moved for a while (few years ) owner / farmer died and next generation probably won't run it. So far I really like it, just don't have the time to run it as much as I would like or need to be using it. It's not a big dozer but have taken out some good sized trees with it.
