You interact with the display of your laptop the most, so do not overlook that and sacrifice on user experience. A spill-resistant keyboard is useful when you’re in a DJ booth where there are a lot of liquids nearby. You also want to pay special attention to keyboard and trackpad comfort, as well as a nice display. If you do a lot of gigs, then you need a machine with good build quality that is less susceptible to damage. While you don’t technically need more than 8 GB of RAM, it is best to aim for minimum 16 GB, especially if you want to produce music using a DAW such as Ableton Liveor Serato DJ. They are both modern offerings, excellent for DJing, that will remain relevant for the coming years. When choosing a laptop for Virtual DJ, you want to go with at least a later generation Intel i5 or an AMD Ryzen 5 processor.
Although, if your budget allows, there is no harm in buying the latest and greatest offering, it will help futureproof your setup in the long run. However, video DJing is a different story as it requires a bit more power, but even then, you don’t need a processing powerhouse.
Most modern DJing laptops on the market will get the job done. Like Rekordbox, VirtualDJ is also pretty light on computer resources, so you don’t really need a powerful machine.
